What should be included in a drug education programme at secondary school?

Ages 14-16 : Substance misuse, choice, habit or addiction

Accurate and up to date information about drugs is an important component of substance education in schools, which can make this feel challenging for teachers who might feel they don't have relevant subject knowledge. Wherever possible, PSHE about substance misuse also needs to go beyond facts and include exploration of attitudes and values and the development of personal and social skills. This teaching pack provides teachers with the support they need to teach their students with informative, up to date and stimulating activities. A range of topics are covered allowing teachers to select appropriate activities to suit their group and timetables. Comprehensive teacher notes assist with subject knowledge and activities include knowledge and personal development (life skills) tasks.
