As schools across England and Wales start to welcome students back and Scotland and Northern Ireland are in the early part of the new term it is likely that the focus of assemblies will be on safety, social distancing and creating something resembling normality in school. However, in the coming weeks and months you may be thinking about more variety in your assembly programme. As ex-teachers and advisors we are well aware of the vast numbers of national and international days and weeks that occur throughout the year. Certainly, far more than could ever be covered. To help you wade through this sea of “awareness” topics we’ve put together a calendar of some of the most relevant and interesting days and weeks. In true Chameleon style the downloadable spreadsheet is completely editable, so you can use it as you wish. Keeping up-to-date in the fast-changing world of Personal Development/PSHE/Health and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, and we have already updated our lesson packs to support teachers deliver lessons to support children and young people manage and explore the issues relevant to the covid-19 pandemic. Download our “Recovery 2020” packs – there are sets of lessons for lower and upper primary age groups and every age-group at secondary school. Each pack contains 5 highly flexible lessons together with a fully editable PowerPoint presentation. The whole-school approach ensures all age-groups are able to explore similar themes but with differentiation for each age-group. With at least 120 minutes of activities to choose from in every lesson, there is plenty of material to take you through term 1.
