Understanding and challenging prejudice and discrimination

Year 6/P7 Ages 10-12 Challenging prejudice

This is a fairly challenging lesson that considers different types of prejudice and discrimination. A word bank supports vocabulary, and task 3 includes a video option. It builds on previous learning on stereotypes and links to bullying, respect and many other themes that children will be familiar with. The peaceful problem-solving model is also revisited, and this is used in several lesson packs. Activities include.

Activity 1 - Prejudice & discrimination (what does this mean?)

Activity 2 - Peaceful problem-solving

Activity 3 - Prejudice scenarios (Video available)

Extension - Why prejudice exists
