What do I need to teach about families as part of the statutory RSE curriculum?

Ages 11-12 : Families

Family relationships is now a compulsory part of statutory Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) in England and also mandatory in Wales and Scotland. This pack offers a gentle introduction to family diversity, roles, responsibilities and family qualities /values that you will build on to teach more challenging topics in higher year groups. Use this pack to explore this topic with your class with a comprehensive set of teacher notes and PowerPoint based activities. Families can be a sensitive topic for some students in the PSHE curriculum so every care has been taken to ensure the activities are inclusive of the wide variety of family backgrounds in school.
