What do I include in a lesson about Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in secondary school?

Ages 13-14 : Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)

This pack can also be used with older students. DfE guidance states "Knowledge about safer sex and sexual health remains important to ensure that young people are equipped to make safe, informed and healthy choices as they progress through adult life." Many teachers find the subject of STIs challenging as it requires accurate and up-to-date subject knowledge as well as a degree of confidence to deliver it effectively. This pack aims to tackle both these issues with activities, teacher notes and videos that give information about the transmission, diagnosis and treatment of STIs and safe sex practises.

This pack contains the following activities:

Take 10 - Understanding STIs
Take 10 - Most to least common STI VIDEO CONTENT
Take 10 - STI true or false?
Take 20 - STI matching exercise (transmission, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment)
Take 20 - STIs - what's the risk?
Take 30 - STI scenarios (prevention) VIDEO CONTENT
