Ages 16-17 : (Theme : Emotional & mental health) : Suicide prevention

Ages 16-17 Resources : Suicide prevention

This is a taboo subject that is rarely included in personal development education programmes for young people, however we feel it is essential this subject is discussed and that young people are signposted to appropriate support if they need it. Safeguarding notes at the start of the resources ask teachers to consider the appropriateness of this subject if they have students who may have experience of suicide or severe mental health issues as it may not be an appropriate subject to discuss openly for some students. However, as the resources come with 120 minutes of activity choices and a fully editable PowerPoint teachers can select and adapt appropriate activities for their group, hopefully allowing most students to participate.
