Is pregnancy a compulsory topic in secondary schools?

Ages 14-16 : Pregnancy & choices

Sex education is now mandatory in all UK schools and this includes teaching pupils about conception, fertility, childbirth and pregnancy choices including termination and adoption. This teaching pack covers some of these issues but is only 'light touch' about termination, which is covered in more detail in the Unintended Pregnancy pack for ages 13-14.

This pack contains the following activities:

  • Pregnancy and fertility facts
  • When is pregnancy not a choice?
  • Stages of pregnancy
  • Pregnancy Myths
  • Healthy pregnancy
  • What are the choices? (fertility options, unintended pregnancy, adoption, fostering)
  • Should everyone have the right to parenthood?
