What do Secondary Schools in England have to teach for statutory Relationships Education, Sex Education and Health Education from September 2020?

Ages 12-13 : Positive romantic relationships

Relationships Education is statutory and at secondary school this consists of 37 outcomes that pupils should know by the end of their secondary education. The outcomes cover themes such as family relationships, friendship, intimate relationships, and online relationships and are not broken down into what should be taught when, so settings need to decide how to build these into a spiral, age-appropriate scheme of work. The Chameleon PDE resources library, to which this pack belongs, can help schools achieve this. This pack introduces students to healthy and safe romantic relationships and contains the following activities:

  • Relationship features A to Z
  • Mini-play
  • Friendship, romance or both?
  • Romance pyramid
  • Different types of committed relationships
  • Safe/unsafe relationships
  • No, cautious, go
